Artist's Comments

Finally. I finally have a complete matte to show for, i'm very happy that this one didn't get corrupted like the others; even though I fixed my computer, I still had that in the back of my mind the whole way through. I am happy with the way it came out too, I have never really done a waterfall like this before, and surprising to me, it actually came out pretty good. The only thing that I wish could be better would be the sky and the castle, but their not so bad so I can live with it.

The base render was made with Vue 6, my first actual render with that program, very fun and easy to use and it's a great tool for matte painters. I could only render it at 2600px wide since my computer is pretty old and I only have about 1gb ram, but it still came out very nice and I was definitely happy with it.

Really nice, your best piece in this style so far :D

The only thing I can fault is the plants above the big waterfall on the right look blurry compared to other parts, I dont know if its clone stamp or painting or anything else, and its not that bad, just next to some quite sharp plants its noticable.

Good job though :)

Very well done. The lighting is awesome, especially how it's hitting that rock in the far left corner. good job!

I could tell there was Vue influnce right away, I just know these things :XD: yet I know the palm tree is a photo, as Vue palms to have a distinguishly different "look" about them =p the base render was cool as is but this is an improvement  I like how you only needed the minimum too, like rendering the base only in a standard atmospher rather than a spectral one, since when the sky is going to be painted over - who needs to waste additional hours waiting for a spectral atmosphere to render? ;p

Up until the start of this year, the computer I used Vue 6 on was no better than yours and rendering big images occasionally took days! :faint: it is possible though, choose the size you want the final image to be (say, 4000px wide for example, that's my usual size) but rather than render it right away - choose a "render area" and do it about a quarter at a time (save each strip, make a new render area just overlapping the last to ensure no "gaps" and render another) - if you do it right - it should be easy to peice these render strips together (I do mine horizontally, starting from the bottom up ;))
