As it keeps taking over the planets, pouring more and more dark energy into them, it begins to lose life itself. But all is not lost, when one is depleted three more have already begun, and they will not stop until there is nothing left...
Silenced Serenity...
I tried some new stuff in this piece, hope I did something right. I wanted to add some more exploding details to the main planets such as asteroids and more bright lights and such, but I will more than likely update this piece with a newer version later on.
Oh, and I know I suck at rings, so let's not say anything.
Thanks for looking.
Also, a little shout out to *Baro for his crater tutorial, genius man.
Edit: I guess i'm finally done with this, I keep on staring at it wanting to add something else, but I don't know what.
But anyway, this is want I was looking for, I wanted to make it darker, more violent. A lot of thanks goes out to Brent (~BPauba) for his help on this.
Awesome concept, but I think you need to brighten the image; it's too midtoned and setback. Maybe bringing out the contrasts will improve the artwork. The same goes for the shadows of the planets and the lighting-it's too soft and dark; define it and make it eye-catching.
The rings are good, I just don't understand why it ripples..is it because of the lightning bolt thing?
Hope to see the newer version

I think the image is really well balanced, the planet composition is what really helps the eye maintain a serene feel. I think you should be proud of the compositional values of the piece itself, push yourself more because you are really on to something!
Moving onto the technical aspects of the piece... I can see the liquefy filter in the background, am I seeing things, or have you used it? I really like the wispy feel it creates, and it works with the serenity aspect of the image. If it is indeed the liquefy filter I would try to hide it a bit more, maybe a simple smudge job would do the trick. The planets are great, very unique and the textural contrast of the given planets helps to individualize each one, I like that. The energy bolt is wonderful, but I would like to see a higher contrast in this area, I feel the bolt is almost muted, it seems to me that it should be more lively through its brightness, but I could be wrong, I could also see it being manipulated by space dust and whatnot, maybe that would induce a magnificent brightness/glow in certain areas! What I really enjoy about the bolt is it unites every planet into one entity. It contradicts the textural contrast that you created with the various planet textures, the two elements are in conflict. The bolt has silenced the serenity in more than one way! Great.
All in all I really like this, you have done a great job. I cannot wait to see the revision, I really think you could push the concepts of the image itself and really make this piece a showcase of not only your technical abilities, but your conceptual abilities as well. Go for it man, I think this deserves a favorite as it stands now, but I will hold it until I see the revision, thats only fair .
