I wanted to put this in the fantasy section since I was kind of hoping to make it more fantasy-like, but oh well, that's alright. But anyway, this is the first of hopefully many, many more matte paintings I will be doing in the future. This was a good test for me, because until now I could never get the whole 'matte painting' style down, and I think I have sort of broken out of that and actually started realizing it's not rocket science. Of course, I don't know if this is considered a true matte painting because I only painted about 30% of it, while the rest of it are stocks, which is sort of a bummer, but i'm learning.
Not sure if i'm gonna do wallpaper on this one or not, but if I do, i'll update it.
Base plate is a stock from =resurgere, which can be viewed here: [link] Some of the 3D models are from [link]
Tech Details Dimensions: 2957x1532 @ 72dpi ...(72?? what??? o_O) - - - - - - - Photoshop CS3 Wacom Intuos3 3D Studio Max
Not bad at all, probably better what i would've come up with the base stock. Though i must point out the clouds near the sun are a bit burned and the top of the tree next to the sun is grey? Nice job otherwise.
Haha, yeah, I was a bit lost when I was doing the trees, I usually don't use any refs for my pieces, but I think I should have made an exception for this one lol. Thanks mate
