First full piece using my wacom tablet, so this one is pretty special to me, that and it doesn't look half bad either. I don't really feel like typing up a whole synopsis for this, so allow me to copy & paste my original concept for this:
"What if space was like a human body, if it had veins, organs, blood, and a heart pumping it all. But what if it got sick? What if space could bleed, if a virus or infection got into the blood stream, what would happen to space as we know it? Would it just dissolve into nothing, or could it fight the virus and try to survive? What if?"
So yeah, that's pretty much it, kinda out there I know, but i'm pretty proud of this one and I like it. I only wish the PSD hadn't got corrupted cause I put a lot of detail in that broken planet... :/
PS: Again, sorry for no wallpapers
PSS: What's up with the poll on dA and not having a cake choice? wtf?!
Nicely done, interesting idea and the sense of contrast amidst the dazzling light is especially awesome for the piece's aesthetics. There is an almost underwater-like sense to it - as if the space itself has an aether, due to the use of blurring to build up depth with all the trails of interstellar bleedings. Which of course makes sense if we're following the concept of space as being a kind of body. Another part I find especially nice is that softly smudged look to the stream of trails just left of the planet, the resplendant look to the searing, golden wounds, and the ball of gas look to the suns via what I imagine to be some well applied colour dodging. My only possible critique here would be that some of the prominent red trails look a little (or a bit) sketchy, and some slight softening of the jaggedness apparent in them would help - perhaps this could be mitigated with some layering to them, much like the soft smudging of the aforementioned trails. Nicely done overall, indeed.
Nice work.
Nice work.
